Tasting Notes

The 2019 Big Canyon possesses the true essence of a bold red blend! This GSM blend features our savory Syrah, complemented by bright Grenache, & opulent Mourvèdre. Both the Syrah & Grenache are 20% whole cluster fermented, adding incredible texture, complexity, & ageability to this wine! The fruit was hand-selected & aged for 18 months in 100% French oak to create a blend of Rhône varietals that is richly sophisticated, multi-layered, & with flawless balance.

You are first drawn in by the deeply opaque ruby color and vibrant aromatics of brambly, inky fruit like blackberry & cassis, with delicate nuances of caramelized fig, hazelnut, herbs de Provence, & toasted oak that develop in the glass. The enticing palate is silky on entry with bright cherry & fresh raspberry jam, with earthy notes of Dutch cocoa, oregano, & a hint of toasted oak. This blend is defined by its bold elegance & ripeness with an astonishing depth that signifies the hallmark characteristics of these spectacular varietals. With a long, savory finish & its beautifully intertwined acidity, this wine will continue to age famously for the next 10 to 15 years.
